I come here rather often if I cannot be bothered to cook for myself and want some authentic Chinese cooking.
There is a Chinese written menu somewhere on the wall which tells you all the authentic dishes they can offer here and it is a shame that they cannot translate that into English for the wider audience.
Decoration, comfy seats, relax atmosphere or friendly customer services is not why I come here for. But good honest tasty food, good portion with good price will be something you would consistently be expected in this simple eatery. All dishes are come with a large portion of rice which is enough for me for two meals.
Try it but maybe you need to use Google translate to get most of the authentic eating experience in here.

Like it!! It tasted good and really good price. The food is like the real Chinese food, not the localized Chinese food. A canteen for Chinese students.

damn, someone beat me to it.

i first popped into rice and noodle whilst "between jobs"  a year ago, convenient  because it was over the road from the job centre. i suddenly noticed it was full of chinese students around lunch time, piled around a canteen type affair, what i soon realised was that at lunchtime it served the sort of fare that i'd only seen in china when out there a while ago. it took me 3 visits to pluck up the courage to ask the guy behind the counter for a bit of what the students were having rather than the bog standard stuff served to the masses. i can't describe most of it, but what i have had pretty much most times i've been is a lovely garlicky molten aubergine dish, along with a chicken & potato stew, and a tofu based dish. i've chopped and changed as the menu does vary, but you can't go far wrong with anything they serve.

my tip would be to go at lunch time and ask to be served from the canteen, it's about £4.50 for rice with two items. one of the more interesting chinese joints in the west end, if not the most interesting. i just wish they'd tell you what was on offer, but that would ruin the magic i guess
